HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

After the end of the Great War, the newly founded Czech Army realized the rising need for armoured vehicles, and asked Skodovy Zavody to come up with a design for a new armoured car. Skoda answered with the Skoda PA-I. The car was symmetrical and featured a special transmission that allowed the vehicle to travel forwards and backwards at the same speed. While the design was quite innovative, it was ultimately deemed unfit for military use. Only a few vehicles were ever completed, but the project led to the development of the better known Skoda PA-II "Turtle".
