HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

The FCM F4 Variant A was a French prototype heavy tank design submitted in May 1937 by Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée (FCM) in response to the 1936 “Char de Rupture 1937” program. It featured a 75 mm gun in a large turret and a 47 mm gun in the hull, weighed approximately 55 tonnes (exceeding the original specification) and aimed for a speed of about 30 km/h. The design was ultimately never built, as the project was overtaken by evolving requirements and the onset of war.
