Carro d'Assalto Tipo Polonia

The Carro d’Assalto Tipo Polonia was a proposal submitted by La Motomeccanica Brevetti Ing. Pavesi for the cavalry armored car competition announced by the Polish Army in 1926. The vehicle featured unconventional technical solutions, such as being mounted on four large, driven wheels. The front wheels were rigidly fixed to the hull, while steering was handled by the rear wheels, which possessed an unlimited range of swivel in any direction, resulting in excellent cross-country mobility. The Polonia was designed in two armament configurations:
- with a 47 mm gun,
- with two heavy machine guns - a 12.7 mm Vickers .50 and a 7.92 mm Hotchkiss wz. 25
Ultimately, not a single unit entered service with the Polish Army due to difficulties in constructing a prototype that met the military’s requirements. Instead, a vehicle based on a Citroën-Kegresse suspension was selected as the Polish cavalry's primary armored car.
