HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

The ARL Tracteur C was a french superheavy prototype tank, devoleped in 1940. From its design, it is clear just how far behind the french army was at the beginning of World War 2. The French Military issued a contract for a superheavy tank, that could withstand any German anti-tank gun and could cross large trenches and rivers. ARL, AMX nad FMC all began development on their own versions. Eventually the ARL and AMX designs were merged together due to their similarity resulting in the ARL Tractuer C, while FCM came up with the FCM F1. Both started work on their mock-ups, with FCM finishing theirs. The ARL mock-up never saw completion due the the contract being abondened due the the German invasion of France.
