HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Proposed by the French Atelier d'Études Mécaniques during the interwar period, the AEM one-man light tank was a highly experimental and ultimately unbuilt concept. The vehicle was designed to be exceptionally compact and lightweight, featuring minimal armor protection and armed with only a single 7.5mm machine gun. Its incredibly small stature was intended to make it a difficult target on the battlefield while providing mobile fire support for advancing infantry units. However, the design severely underestimated the cognitive and physical overload placed on a single crew member, who would be forced to simultaneously drive, navigate, command, and operate the weapon in the heat of combat.
